issues> Annexation Orange Park Acres is a rural community with two governing jurisdictions: The County of Orange and the City of Orange. It’s equally split – about 50% in both. In 2003 several small OPA county islands were annexed into the City with minimal change. County residents in the past have resisted annexation fearing it would change the character of OPA. The City has been clear that it had no intention of adding sidewalks, unnecessary lighting or changes to our animal keeping regulations. The rural atmosphere of our community adds value to our City plus annexation would provide for economic efficiencies. The OPA Board has decided to move forward with the process and will engage the community.
